Starting Part B-Work on this part independently, as soon as you have your check-in

As soon as you meet with Mr. Lavoie or Ms. McSkimming on Part A, start Part B. You must follow the steps below, read the powerpoint below and then complete Planning: Form B by November 22/23. Be sure to incorporate your supervisor's feedback to improve your project and your final mark.

PLEASE GET YOUR PERMISSION FORM SIGNED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND RETURN TO YOUR CAREERS 10 TEACHER. A hard copy will be sent home, so you don't need to print it off.

Please keep your Investigating A form that we returned to you with your Process Journal.

Objectives for B: Planning
  1. develop criteria for the product/outcome
  2. plan and record the development process of the project
  3. demonstrate self-management skills

To complete this part of your Personal Project:

0. Read this important B: Planning powerpoint (click)
1. Decide how you know your project will be successful. These are your own criteria, not the Personal Project criteria.
2. Make your criteria.
3. Continue to conduct necessary research. 
4. Work on your project consistently by making any necessary diagrams, models, examples.
5. Record all of your progress in your process journal.
6. Complete the B: Planning Form due November 22/23

Part A: Check ins

Dear Grade 10 students,

Thank you for handing in your Part A: Investigating Forms. Please be aware that Mr. Lavoie and Ms. McSkimming will be meeting with you next week on November 1 and 2 and November 6 and 7.

Please be ready to discuss your project with them at that time. In the meantime, keep working towards completing your goal!

Part A is due, time to continue working on your Personal Project!

Dear Grade 10s,

Please hand in your Investigating A form to your Careers teacher now! It is due! Continue to use http://jhpersonalproject.blogspot.ca/  to work on your project. New links and tabs have been added to serve you better.

Now, it is up to you to work on your project and record what you are doing in your process journal. Over the next few weeks, Mr. Lavoie and Ms. McSkimming will meet with you one on one.

Personal Project Supervisors are Mr. Lavoie (PJ) (A and C block) and Ms. McSkimming (B and D block)

It's always best to talk to us in person if you need help!

Mr. Lavoie is in the Career Centre on Mondays in Block A and C. Otherwise, find him in 4WL.
Ms. McSkimming is in the Career Centre Wednesdays in Block B, and daily in Block D. Otherwise, find her in 2HL or 2FP.

Global Contexts give your Personal Project inquiry focus, help narrow your inquiry question, and help you connect your passions to the real world.

You will need to answer a few questions on Part A Investigating Form about your chosen global context and exploration.

Inquiry Lessons Summary

Dear Grade 10s,

By now you should be well on your way to completing Part A: Investigating. Reminder that your  Personal Project A: Investigating Form by October 18/19 and hand it in to your Career 10 teacher. It must be typed and printed, no exceptions. You should try to work on your project for 1.5 hours per week of your own time and record your process in your process journal.


The Inquiry booklet that you worked on in the Learning Commons should help you complete the Investigating A form.

Objectives for A: Investigating
i.   define a clear goal and global context for the project, based on personal interests
ii.  identify prior learning and subject-specific knowledge relevant to the project
iii. demonstrate research skills

To complete this part of your Personal Project use your Process Journal to:

1. Brainstorm your interests, passions, and ideas. Review the goal setting powerpoint shown in your Careers 10 class
2. Conduct necessary research-you may need to visit websites, conduct interviews, create surveys, and do experiments- click here for a list of JH staff who might help you!
3. Identify what you already know and what you still need to find out
4. Use this example chart to identify a global context for your project
5. Clearly state a goal for your project in your report

You will receive a goal setting lesson through your Careers 10 class next week.
